DESCA was formed in 2010 as the Delaware Sustainable Chemistry Alliance to build an ecosystem around the region's strong foundation of chemistry, biochemistry, and materials science. Between 2010 and 2021 DESCA began to drive its mission, gradually evolving along the way as we uncovered regional needs. Today, DESCA has three key areas of focus.
Since 2010 DESCA has played a key role in convening industry leaders in the public and private sectors on emerging issues and industries including digital transformation of the chemical industries and driving the hydrogen economy.
DESCA continues to drive innovation and collaborative partnerships between major strategics, startups and universities by offering hands-on workshops, lunch & learns, connections to industry and subject matter experts experts, as well as events focused on access to capital through its suite of Innovation 2 Invoice programs geared to early stage deep tech start ups, with a focus on sustainable innovation.
Since 2018, DESCA has partnered closely with the University of Delaware to connect students to industry and vice versa with a goal of harmonizing the development of talent with the validated needs of industry.
"Over the years since we first met, I have watched the team at DESCA grow this fantastic organization to become a leader in connecting stakeholders, entrepreneurs, community leaders and resources to deliver innovation." T.H.
"As I look back at Year 2020, I realize I have a lot to be thankful for. In terms of 4th Phase Water Technologies business, we could not have been where we are today without your help. Thank you!" C.L.
Tech2Market was an invaluable experience. This program forced me to think about the broader application of our flagship product through structured exercises and discussion. Tech2Market encourages founders to think critically about their products, categories, markets and the value of their products/services. This type of thinking provides a foundation for building out a founder's vision. A.V.
"I truly enjoyed the 2 sessions and as a result I have now a better understanding of Patent Laws which will be beneficial for the business I’m working for! GREAT thanks – really well done and enjoyable!" R.A.
“You guys at DESCA just see a need, run with it and hit a home run!” J.F.
“DESCA seems to be doing amazing things this year despite COVID-19. You consistently punch above your weight.” A.P.
“The more I learn about DESCA, the more I am impressed with all they do.” R.H.
